Purpose of the Post
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•Help people live their life the way they wish to live it
Responsibility for functions . e.g. staff, budgets, equipment
•Learn how to make appropriate use of specialised tools and equipment that help the individual live their life according to their personal wishes and objectives. This will include reporting deficiencies and following specialist practice and training protocols as needed.
Main Duties
•Initial period (8 weeks) – completing e-learning, undertaking mandatory training e.g. moving and handling and completion of periods of work experiences within Learning disabilities, adults and children services – two weeks in each location.
•Undertaking a development programme leading to the completion of the All-Wales Health and Social Care Establishment Framework and completing of all relevant qualifications as you progress.
•Undertake a development programme leading to the completion of a level 2 qualification in Adult Health and Social Care or Level 3 Children and Young People.
•Be part of a team, where you learn about working in a care environment, including health and safety, equal opportunities, dignity, respect and learn how to make connections with other people. Also have the opportunity to receive supervision and mentoring from experienced staff.
•Work closely under supervision with internal and external partners To get the best results for the service users e.g. Social Workers, nurses, occupational therapists, GPs etc.
•Attend supervision meetings, team meetings, and training days to develop and contribute to the team's success.
•Work towards establishing a person-centred approach in helping adults and children retain their independence, ensuring their care and support needs are met safely. All while promoting wellbeing, health, development, safety, equality, inclusion and respect for diversity.
•Develop skills to build relationships with users to understand exactly what would make a difference to their lives and to empower the person's voice at every opportunity.
•Demonstrate empathy, care, and understanding when it comes to the specialised and complex needs of the people you care for and support.
•Adhere to all Council policies and procedures including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and confidentiality legislations.
•Develop skills to offer high quality care ensuring that the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, creative and development needs of users are met.
•Work towards offering all care work related duties including personal care and supporting the individuals using the service.
•Operating and utilising IT Systems
•Pass all milestones to be able to continue to the next level of Academi Gofal Gwynedd.
•Have a positive attitude towards Learning and Development skills and information along the way.
•Develop skills so that it is possible to be an advocate for people to ensure that their individual rights and choices are respected.
•Under supervision you will be required to accurately and lawfully record relevant documentation that contributes to the service user's care file. It will be necessary to ensure alignment with the National Care Standards for older people and good work practice. Under supervision you will be required to keep appropriate records, prepare reports, and participate in child achievement meetings to ensure that parents are as involved as much as possible in the centre and at home.

•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special Circumstances . e.g. the need to work unsociable hours, special working arrangements etc.
•You will need to go through Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
•You will need to work unsocialbel hours, rota-style - to include weekends, evenings
•An expectation to work across other service sites if necessary.
