QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT TRAINING
ESSENTIAL
HNC qualification or equivalent in the field of construction, or extensive experience in the field of building maintenance.
Full driving license.
DESIRABLE
A degree or recognised higher professional qualification within construction. Membership of relevant professional bodies.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
Experience in the field of building maintenance.
Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with customers, other agencies, and contractors.
Experience in setting up work programs, and monitoring work progress and associated budgets.
DESIRABLE
Experience in providing building/property services.
Experience in responding to maintenance requests in an office environment.
Experience in managing consultants and contractors, and the ability to organise and manage work.
SKILLS AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
ESSENTIAL
An awareness of legislation and regulations relevant to construction work.
A clear awareness of relevant Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
Understanding and ability to use computer systems.
DESIRABLE
Having basic specialised knowledge in other areas such as energy conservation, civil engineering, or electrical/mechanical installations. Knowledge of computer-based asset management systems and being comfortable in their use.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Listening and Speaking – Advanced Level
Ability to follow a conversation or discussion in Welsh and English at a professional level and discuss everyday general topics in the field in order to present information and express opinions. Ability to deliver a prepared presentation in advance and respond to any comments and questions on it in Welsh and English.
Reading and Understanding – Advanced Level
Ability to understand standard, formal, and informal written Welsh and English. Able to gather information from various sources such as letters, reports, articles, in Welsh and English in order to perform the job.
Writing – Advanced Level
Present written information confidently in the form of a letter, detailed and technical report, and respond to written requests by conveying information, ideas, and opinions in Welsh and English. (It is possible to get help to check the language).
