QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT TRAINING
ESSENTIAL
- Good education up to A level or
- Level 3 Qualification in Youth and Community Work (or equivalent as recognized by ETS Wales) or
- Level 3 Qualification in Housing Studies (or equivalent as recognized by CIH).
DESIRABLE
- Level 4 or above qualification in Youth and Community Work (or equivalent as recognized by ETS Wales) or
- Level 4 or above in Housing Studies (or equivalent as recognized by CIH).
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
- Extensive experience of working with vulnerable, disaffected, disenfranchised young people facing complex barriers
- Experience in Housing or any fringe area
- Experience of using motivational techniques to work / support young people
- Experience of networking, negotiation with a wide range of partners and specialist services in the area of youth engagement.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team / team
DESIRABLE
- Experience of working with parents / carers of vulnerable young people.
- Experience of community outreach work
- Experience of tracking progress and reporting results
SKILLS AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
ESSENTIAL
- Understanding and acting within safeguarding procedures
- Ability to maintain and protect individuals' confidentiality and deal appropriately with sensitive and personal information.
- An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion issues.
- An understanding of the needs of the client group
- IT skills

- Possess a full driving license and vehicle access.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Listening and Speaking - Higher Level
Able to follow a conversation or discussion through the medium of Welsh and English on a professional level and discuss general day to day topics in the field in order to present information and express opinions. Able to give a pre-prepared presentation and respond to any comments and questions on it in Welsh or English.
Reading and Understanding - Higher Level
Able to understand standard written Welsh and English; both formal and informal. Able to gather information from various sources such as letters, reports, articles through the medium of Welsh and English in order to fulfil the post.
Writing - Higher Level
Present written information confidently by letter, more detailed and technical report formats, and respond to written requests conveying information, ideas and opinion in Welsh and English (help is available to check the work).
