Purpose of the Job
This post is an opportunity to develop relationships between the Education Department, Gwynedd Schools, and Gwynedd Libraries. The role involves coordinating and monitoring a project that will encourage collaboration and the integration of IT systems in order to achieve the goal of every child becoming a member of Gwynedd Libraries.
The post-holder will promote the project among Gwynedd Schools, evaluate and review the project, and create a toolkit to support the establishment of the project across Wales.

Main Duties
- Place the people of Gwynedd at the centre of everything the service does, working in accordance with strategies and policies adopted by Gwynedd Council.
- Collaborate with LMS Cymru officers and Education Department IT officers to facilitate and implement data transfer, ensuring that personal information is handled in compliance with Data Protection legislation.
- Take responsibility for organising literacy promotion campaigns for Gwynedd Schools, including supporting and collaborating in arranging library visits, competitions, author/poet/illustrator visits, and making use of local and national campaigns.
- Take responsibility for preparing marketing materials and promoting the “Every Child a Member of Gwynedd Libraries” project.
- Take responsibility during the life of the scheme for evaluating and monitoring the project, and assisting in preparing the final report on the successes of the pilot project.
- Take responsibility for creating a toolkit for dissemination to LMS Cymru members.
- Report to the Community Services Librarian on areas requiring attention.
- Attend and participate in team meetings, committees, or working groups, and prepare reports as required.
- Attend other teams and working groups of the Library Service, the Department, or joint groups with external services/agencies, as required.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in line with responsibilities set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
- Take responsibility for self-development and contribute to the Library and Information Service’s training programme. Work within the Council's equal opportunities and equality policies and procedures.
- Comply with Gwynedd Council’s Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults policy and guidelines, recognising that every employee has a responsibility to be aware of their safeguarding duties.
- Take responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is handled in compliance with Data Protection legislation.
- Commit to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in line with the Carbon Management Plan and encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s carbon footprint.
- Undertake any other reasonable and comparable duties consistent with the pay level and level of responsibility of the post.
Special Circumstances
The right is reserved to change working patterns according to the needs of the Service.
The postholder will be expected to reach the appropriate competency level in the use of information technology. Training will be provided as needed.
The main place of work will be Caernarfon Library Centre, but if necessary, temporary arrangements may be made for the postholder to carry out similar duties in other libraries within contracted hours, without any additional time or pay.
