Purpose of the post
• Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•To assist with the coordination of the Council’s strategy to bring more empty dwellings back into use.
Responsibility for functions

Main duties
•To help maintain a data base of empty dwellings throughout the county and ensure that the data base states the level of priority for dealing with the dwellings.
•To assist the service with dealing with empty dwellings by assisting to develop and adopt new strategies
•To represent the private housing service as required in internal or external meetings regarding empty dwellings.
•To undertake inspections of empty dwellings
•To act as a contact point for owners of empty dwellings and to arrange meetings with owners to discuss the options to bring the houses back into use.
•Contact owners of empty dwellings and collect feed-back by using questionnaires etc to find the reasons why the houses are empty.
•To assist housing health officers by using enforcement powers to bring empty dwellings back into use.
•Conduct discussions with housing associations and other appropriate agencies to discuss options to deal with empty dwellings.
•To keep a close link with good practice across the Council and in other councils and agencies in the field of dealing with empty dwellings.
•To be part of the process of managing and monitoring performance in accordance with the post’s requirements.
•To advise owners of empty dwellings on a range of support available through grant aid and / or loans to bring empty dwellings back into use.
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any worry or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused
