Purpose of the post
•Assist to co-ordinate and implement the work of receiving and processing planning applications, enforcement cases and appeals, including receiving fees, scanning and digitising information on all related duties.
•Co-ordinate and respond to land charge enquiries.
•Make effective use of GIS system and other information systems used in accordance with the requirements of the planning service.
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
Responsibility for functions
Budgets – Processing fees received by the service in accordance with the Authority’s financial guidelines and the working arrangements of the service.
Equipment – Responsibility for personal equipment and specialist equipment related to technical tasks.
Main duties
•Co-ordinate and implement the work of registering and processing planning applications, planning enforcement cases and appeals including the receipt and handling of planning fees.
•Process income received from the service in accordance with the authority’s guidelines.
•Co-ordinate and implement the work of scanning information from the applications and plotting on the GIS system.
•Inputting information to the service’s computer systems and process the information as required.
•Co-ordinating and responding to enquiries about land charges in the service.
•Undertake research and gather information for the needs of the service and external bodies.
•Offers initial advice to service users on planning issues.
•Responsibility for maintaining registers of conservation areas, listed buildings, conservation and trees within the area.
•Deputise for the Supportive Officer as necessary.
•Dealing with other support work for the service such as dealing with mail, administer appeals, filing and processing invoices.
•Taking responsibility for personal self-development.
•Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operating within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Committing to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Report any worry or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special circumstances
•Occasionally will need to work unsocial hours.
