Purpose of the post
Who is Actif North Wales?
Actif North Walesis a regional physical activity and sport partnership working across North Wales. We work collaboratively with partners to improve health and wellbeing by encouraging and supporting more people to be active – in ways that are relevant, accessible, and sustainable for them.
The purpose of this new and innovative post is to increase the visibility, reach, and impact of Actif North Wales by:
•Capturing and sharing authentic stories from across the region.
•Producing high-quality, bilingual digital content (e.g. short-form video, graphics, blogs, reels).
•Amplifying the voices of children, young people, and communities.
•Supporting evaluation and learning through creative storytelling.
The role will strengthen our digital presence and regional identity, help partners and funders understand the system-wide value of physical activity, and test whether embedded creative capacity delivers greater impact than outsourced content creation.
Responsibility for functions
•Budget Management:Responsible for managing a modest project budget related to content creation, including commissioning freelance support (e.g. videographers, translators), purchasing software licenses, and overseeing spend on digital campaigns. Expected to ensure value for money and compliance with procurement and financial procedures.
•Equipment Management:Responsible for the care, maintenance, and appropriate use of digital equipment (e.g. camera, microphone, editing tools, mobile devices) provided for content creation. May be involved in specifying and procuring new equipment as needed.
•Relationship Management:While the postholder has no direct line management responsibilities, they will play a key role in managing relationships across the Actif North Wales partnership. This includes:
oBuilding and maintaining strong working relationships with local authority officers, schools, community groups, and commissioned projects.
oActing as a liaison between the regional team and local delivery partners to identify and co-create impactful stories.
oRepresenting Actif North Wales in a professional and collaborative manner in all external communications and engagements.
Main duties
The postholder will be responsible for delivering the following key duties across five core areas:
Content Creation and Storytelling
•Produce high-quality, engaging and inclusive digital content (short-form video, reels, photography, blogs, graphics).
•Ensure all content is bilingual (Welsh and English), culturally relevant, and audience friendly.
•Capture authentic stories and voices from children, young people, and communities.
•Create campaign content aligned with Actif’s strategic priorities (Active Societies, Systems, People, Environments).
Community Engagement
•Build trusting relationships with local partners, schools, community groups and clubs, and commissioned projects.
•Co-create content with communities, ensuring voices are represented fairly and inclusively.
•Confidently engage with children and young people to amplify their stories.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)
•Bring data and impact to life through creative outputs (case studies, infographics, digital reports).
•Support the regional team in demonstrating outcomes to funders, stakeholders, and system partners.
Digital Presence and Brand Development
•Manage and grow Actif’s social media channels, ensuring regular, consistent, and engaging content.
•Strengthen recognition of the Actif brand across North Wales and beyond.
•Monitor analytics and adapt content strategies based on audience insights.
Collaboration and System Contribution
•Work closely with Actif’s central team, six local authority partners and other system wide partners to identify and share stories.
•Act as a connector between local delivery and regional/national priorities.
•Align content with the outcomes and priorities of system partners (e.g. health, housing, education, local government, third sector).
Corporate Responsibilities
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special circumstances
The postholder must be willing to travel across North Wales and work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the role.
