Purpose of the post
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•To control and eradicate defined pests mainly of public health significance in response to requests, complaints and prior contracts. ·
•To maintain and develop responsible animal ownership through education, promotion and enforcement action. ·
•To undertake visits, inspections and treatments that arise from public protection responsibilities on the instruction of an Environmental Health Officer

Main duties
•Control and eradicate pests by laying of baits, poisons, traps and treatments and monitor effectiveness by follow tip actions.
•Provide advice to business and general public on measures to prevent infestation by pests
•Disinfect and fumigate premises, articles and clothing that may be infested or soiled.
•Bait sewers and drainage systems for the presence of rodents and carrying out tests/checks for defects that could attract/harbour rodent infestations.
•Record visits made, treatment carried out, noting poisons and equipment necessary for carrying out the duties and ensure prompt invoicing.
•Patrol areas including public open spaces, land owned by the Council and beaches where specific animal control measures are in existence through legislation.
•Implement the Authorities stay dog’s policy and procedure and take appropriate action to safeguard the public.
•Gather evidence, keep records and prepare reports for cautioning and prosecution of offences against those who fail to control animals.
•Liaise with Police and other relevant agencies concerned with the welfare and stewardship of animals and give advice to general public and special interest groups.
•Undertake visits, inspections and investigations under supervision of an Environmental Health Officer and assist other Officers as required.
•Operate in a safe manner and conform with health and safety regulations, the Council's policies and risk management plans.

•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any worry or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused
Special circumstances
•The post holder may be required to work occasional unsocial hours, eg during specific operations on weekends, bank holidays and may be required to work additional hours or changing work patterns in order to ensure that sufficient resources are available to satisfy the demands of the job
