Purpose of Post.
 • Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the centre of everything we do.
• The main principle of the Youth Justice Service is to prevent young people from offending and re-offending in Gwynedd and Anglesey. In general, the post-holder is responsible for the supervision, support and monitoring of young people in Gwynedd and Anglesey who come in contact with or are in danger of coming into contact with the Youth Justice System. 
• The post-holder will also be responsible for managing cases that are open to the Prevention and Diversion Team. The post-holder will be responsible for supervising the work to supervise and support the needs of young people who are eligible for preventive intervention.
Responsibility for Resources. . e.g. staff, finance, equipment
 • Supervision/Leadership: By the operational manager of the Youth Justice Service.
Main Duties . 
 • Take referrals from other agencies such as the Police, Social Services and Education, ensuring that the parents and children have approved the referral. 
• Complete appropriate Youth Justice Board endorsed assessments on all cases allocated from The Gwynedd and Mon YJS allocation panel.
• Analyse all relevant sources of information within the assessment to create interventions to support the Young person to try and prevent offending or further offending. 
• Following assessment refer children/families to relevant statutory or non statutory services.
• Ensure that case minutes and contacts are inputted into Childview regularly and that the content is correct and reflects the nature of the intervention undertaken with the young person. 
• Support and mentor young people eligible for prevention or diversion support, taking account of the voice of the child in any agreed interventions 
• Ensure that Reports or information submitted for panel meetings are of a high standard and in keeping with the Youth Justice Board's national standards.
• Work in partnership with parents/carers and other professional agencies to facilitate positive changes in the behaviour of Young people with a view to avoid offending. 
• Manage information in accordance with the Council's information management standards and guidances. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
• Assume a measure of flexibility in trying to meet the needs of the individual and his/her family. This may, with the agreement of managment, on occassion involve working outside normal office hours. 
• Develop projects in accordance with the principles of prevention and diversion. Utilising young people’s strengths and interests to try and achieve positive outcomes and development
• Act as a representative on the Youth Justice Service(YJS) Appropriate Adult duty rota and attend as an AA when the Service is requested.
• Attend and participate in regular team meetings, forums and individual supervision sessions. 
• Take responsibility for self-development and attend development programmes and training arranged by the YJS or on behalf of the YJS.
• Promote and act in a non-discriminatory way toward colleagues and service users. 
• Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and respond to fire regulations.
• Ensure compliance with workplace Health and Safety regulations in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
• Operate within the Council’s equal opportunities and equality policies.
• Be esponsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
• Demonstrate a commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
• Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
• Be responsible for reporting any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special Circumstances. . e.g. the need to work unsociable hours, special working arrangements etc.
 • There may be a need to work outside normal office hours including evening and weekends.
