•The aim of the post is to assist in the provision of an effective and efficient pension administration service for the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Main duties
•Working directly with the Systems and Special Projects Team Leader, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the systems carry out their functions in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner, and that issues with the system providers are resolved, and under the general direction of the Pensions Manager ensure that developments are created, implemented and maintained correctly.
•Assist with the day-to-day management of the pensions administration system and improvements to the system as well as i-Connect data exchange, member self-service systems and death screening and administration of the National NI Database and Tell Us Once.
•Assist in maintaining the Pension Fund's computerised administrative systems including researching, testing, and continuously monitoring how systems are developed and upgraded to ensure that the system is used to its full of potential.
•Assist in maintaining the Pension Fund website.
•Carry out the pre-load checks of information received from the Scheme's Employer Payroll software through the i-connect data exchange to ensure that all changes made in terms of scheme membership and Career Average benefits in relation to scheme members are correct.
•Maintain monthly operational reports, including the NI National Database and publish termination reports in relation to HMRC requirements and resolve any queries as a result.
•Manage member access to the member self-service system to ensure compliance and resolve any issues arising from that.
•Provide reports to monitor information remaining from employers to ensure that key performance indicators are effectively monitored and met in accordance with the Performance and Action Plan.
•Assist with research, analysis, and development of the Pension Fund's workflow system to ensure that key performance indicators are effectively monitored and met in accordance with the Performance and Action Plan.
•Assist in training and mentoring Pension Fund staff appropriately to ensure they have sufficient knowledge to carry out their duties to the required standard to ensure workloads and targets are met.
•Assist with the annual year-end exercise and provide accurate data for each three-year valuation of the Pension Fund.
•Assist with the correct implementation of the annual Pension Increase review in accordance with the Pension Increase Orders.
•Assist with special projects e.g. McCloud judgment or Pensions Dashboard.
•Assist in administering the Annual Statement of Benefits exercise for all scheme members in accordance with disclosure requirements.
•Assist in providing quality and timely statistical information, to the Pensions Manager, to ensure that service level agreement targets are effectively monitored and reached and for the requirements of the Annual Report and Audit of the Pension Fund.
•Maintain current practical knowledge of pensions legislation relating to membership of the scheme and eligibility within the Local Government Pension Scheme.
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.

•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special circumstances
•To work outside normal office working hours as required in cases where a service provided by the unit is at risk.
