Purpose of the Post
• Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
• Dealing with waste and recycling materials on site.
Responsibility for functions . e.g. staff, budgets, equipment
Responsibility for vehicles and equipment in relation to the service.
Main Duties
• Undertake individually or as part of a team any duties associated with the disposal of waste and recycling from domestic and commercial properties.
Responsibilities to include:
• Dealing with containers and vehicles such as cars, lorries, trailers, skips, bins, sacks, wheelie bins, recycling boxes etc on site. The intention is to separate all types of waste such as paper, metal, wood etc for the purpose of recycling.
• It will be necessary to drive vehicles relevant to this type of work such as a forklift vehicle, telehandler etc.
• The duties include dealing with the public as they come to the sites.
• Dealing with paperwork associated with the work which includes essential documents for reporting on the Council’s recycling performance.
• Responsibility for ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues and members of the public on site.
• Taking responsibility for personal self-development.
• Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
• Operating within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
• Managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
• Committing to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
• Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
• Report any worry or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special Circumstances . e.g. the need to work unsociable hours, special working arrangements etc.
• The sites service is open on Bank Holidays and work will be required on these days.
