Purpose of the post
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•The post is located within the Autism service (a new post to develop autism services across the County).
•The purpose of the post is to develop an autism service within the County, focusing mainly on transitional age (ie bridging between Children's Services and Adult Services) and promoting consistent operation across the County.
•The post will maintain a workload through a mixture of direct intervention with autistic individuals and their families, collaboration with other workers who support autistic individuals together with indirect intervention through sharing information, doing consultation work and giving advice to workers who support autistic individuals.

Main duties
•To undertake direct work with children, young people, adults and their families using interventions that are based on outcomes and evidence.
•Ensure that work is done in accordance with legislation, policy, current guidelines, and good practice. To contribute and develop towards new ways of working and interventions.
•To work in a way that promotes the well-being of autistic children and adults.
•Use the variety of assessment tools used in your area to gather information from the family/individuals and the professionals involved in order to inform the holistic family assessment for the whole family.
•Gather information and identify strengths, goals and resources with each individual/family member for the whole family in order to create a care and support plan that will meet the needs of the child/adult.
•To offer a service to service users, families and the community in accordance with legal guidelines that accompany the Code of Practice for the provision of Autism Services, including assessment of care and support.
•Assess need and give support to families/adults in need. This means coordinating the work of employees from other agencies using the resources of the department and the community in a flexible manner.
•To coordinate with other professions that work in the field of autism, in particular the National and Regional Autism Service, The Health Board and other departments within the Council.
•To contribute to developing new forms of work or service in order to develop opportunities in the field.
•To contribute to the development of colleagues in children and adults services, by advising and sharing relevant information about the subject.
•Depending on experience and qualification, to supervise students (ie offering placements to social work students if there is an opportunity to do so).
•To complete the necessary administrative tasks/requirements in accordance with guidelines, policies and practice.
•To attend training sessions aiming to improve skills/practice.
•To help colleagues carry out their duties. Collaboration with other workers across the child and adult teams will be required in order to improve knowledge and skills regarding autism.
•In exceptional circumstances, to undertake responsibilities in order to respond to an emergency situation.
• Any reasonable duty or responsibility as required by the head of the service.
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special circumstances
•Working within a flexible framework to meet the requirements of the service outside the normal 9 to 5 hours when necessary.
