Job Purpose
● Promote and support the development of a Positive Behavior Support philosophy (CYC) Positive Behavior Support (PBS) (For more information click here: Positive Behaviour Support:. Adopt a working method that focuses on the strength of the person with Learning Disability in Gwynedd.
● Providing holistic assessments that put the person at the center of all we do.
● Mentoring and support managers, staff, carers and the people we support to ensure that (PBS) model is implemented within services to improve the quality of life, promote and respect, dignity human rights of individuals with a Learning Disability.
● Mentor and support managers to provide better support by demonstrating and modeling good practice, providing feedback, completing assessments and measuring outcomes.
● Work closely with multi-agency teams, internal providers, external providers, families and the third sector to promote the ethos of the PBS framework.

Main Duties .
1. Guiding and Mentoring - Encouraging and empowering managers and staff to implement PBS by working together in partnership. Create a culture of respect in order to ensure a good quality of life for the individuals served. Provide guidance and feedback to staff by conveying a vision and ethos of PBS.
2. Resource Management - Planning and monitoring to ensure a high quality service and continuous improvement. Ensuring that plans are evidence based and are focused on an outcome for the individual.
3. Performance and Development - Identifying staff strengths and their areas of development. Focus on improving performance, through using the three stage training approach followed by monitoring and evaluating performance.
4. Problem Solving – Working in partnership to make socially valid decisions and respond effectively to priorities as they change.
5. Communication - Sharing and listening to information, opinions and ideas. Use appropriate communication methods. Share what you know to increase the motivation of others.
6. Awareness of the context - Working effectively and gaining an understanding within the Council's political framework and awareness of the issues that affect service provision at different levels. Foster links with others to benefit from good practice in order to improve provision for service users.
7. Self-management - setting an example for others by being proactive, honest and consistent and by taking responsibility for what you do. Ensure compliance with professional standards. Act in accordance with the requirements of the Social Care and Well-being Wales Act 2014 and the guidelines and policies of the service and Gwynedd Council (For more information click here: Social Care and Well-being Act Wales <https://socialcare.wales/hub/sswbact>).
Specific responsibilities
8. Complete a range of holistic assessments e.g. that support tier 1 strategies - sensory, human rights, Quality of life, environmental, understanding behaviors of concern, rapport building, and Active Support which all support the process towards a holistic functional behavioral assessment.
9. Working in partnership with the person receiving the support, managers, support staff, families and carers and other professionals to draw up a plan based on assessments.
10. Promoting the principles of PBS which puts the person in the center, mentoring teams to make this an integral part of work practices. Promote positive staff experiences to boost confidence and competence.
11. Development of key performance, teach on the use of outcome measures that will measure the success of the PBS plans and quality of life
12. Offer advice and guidance on PBS planning within the daily operation of the services.
13. Finding ways for individuals to have positive behavioral outcomes - improving opportunities and maximizing their potential by creating ways to participate in activities and opportunities in their communities. Show a reduction in behavior that causes concern, especially restrictive interventions; and promote positive and proactive risk management so that individuals can live full and valued life without unnecessary restrictions
14. Ensure that high quality training is recognised and provided to improve skills and raise staff confidence.
15. Monitor and offer direct mentoring to managers and support staff who work closely with service users to ensure that service practices improve effectively.
16. Attend team meetings and any other meetings as required and deemed suitable by your manager.
17. Carrying out and write assessments. Collect and analyse data and present to others. Submit reports as deemed appropriate by your manager
18. . Be a source of information and advisory expertise regarding positive behavior strategies where necessary.
19. Although there will be supervision, the post holder will be expected to take the lead, and take responsibility and ownership for managing the work and meeting necessary time constraints with a high level of personal responsibility.

f. Ensure that personal information is handled in a manner that complies with Data Protection legislation.
g. Undertake any other reasonable duty commensurate with the salary level and level of responsibility of the position.
