This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Gwynedd's Social Work team.

As a Social Worker you will make a huge difference to the lives of individuals here in Gwynedd by assisting them to live their lives in the way they wish to live.

You will support individuals through social and personal difficulties, at the same time as promoting their human rights and well-being. You will work with individuals, supporting their relationships and families, groups and their links with the community. You will assist them to identify their strengths, develop their skills and work on issues or challenges they may be facing.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain their registration as a registered Social Worker with Social Care Wales and be able to demonstrate skills in accordance with the Job Description and the Person Specification (attached). ⁠ ⁠

Salary⁠: ⁠ S4 / PS1 / PS2 (dependent on experience)

L1 (Newly Qualified Social Worker) - S4 (pt 26-28) £37,280 - £39,152

L2 (Social Worker) – PS1 (pt 29-31), £39,862 - £41,771

L3 (Lead Social Worker) – PS2 (pt 31-33), £41,771 - £44,075

The member of staff will be enabled to pass the salary thresholds in accordance with experience and performance.

Recognised qualification in social work or on the verge of completing.

All social workers (or anyone that describes themselves as such) need to be registered with Social Care Wales. Gwynedd Council will reimburse registration fees annually

A willingness to work toward approval under the MHA by completing relevant training within a two-year period of being in post

Job Description

Purpose of the post

•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.

•Work as a member of the Social Services mental health team and he/she will have responsibilty for assessing, arranging and providing services for people with mental health problems and their carers. The post holder will also liaise with other community workers from both the statutory and non-statutory sectors in order to co-ordinate service delivery. Will also be expected to undertake assessment under the Mental Health Act as an acting Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or competent to undertake training for approval as an AMHP within two years of commencement fo the post.

Responsibility for functions

•The post holder is expected to be aware of the financial consequences/context of any package of care they may arrange e.g. residential placement.

Main duties

•To work within the guidelines of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014

• Participate in duty and Allocation meeting as required.

•To assess Service users’ needs and to arrange and provide Services

•To evaluate, prepare and implement care plans in partnership with services users and other relevant parties and reiview regularly.

•To work collaborately with individuals and other agencies.

•To provide information /guidance to Service user’s and their carers

•.To form close working relationships with other partners within the Service.

•As an AMHP he/she will be required to carry out statutory work under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007)

•If successful applicant is not approved at present, he/she will be expected to follow an appropriate course in order to obtain approval within two years.

•Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, case conferences, liaise with Community agencies and represent the team on relevant committees/groups.

•Responsibility for self-development.

•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.

•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.

•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.

•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.

•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.

•Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
