The purpose of the post is to support the technical work and inspection of the trunk road network by taking part in engineering, maintenance and safety assessment tasks to ensure that the network is managed effectively on behalf of the Welsh Government.

None, except for normal office equipment, e.g. computer.
 
Main Duties.
The main purpose of the service is to safely and effectively manage and maintain the Welsh Government's trunk road network by supporting inspections, projects and engineering works that ensure high standards of operation.
The Electrical and Highway Technology Apprentice role is an opportunity to gain broad practical experience of managing, inspecting and maintaining the trunk road network by working with specialist teams across a range of engineering and environmental disciplines.
The main duties of the role will be to:
Supporting the work of the Network Management Unit, the Tunnels and Technology Unit and the Business and Projects Unit by participating in technical tasks and inspections.
Learn how to manage safety risks on the trunk road network and identify deficiencies or hazards in assets.
Taking part in vital inspections, highway inspections and structural maintenance across North and Mid Wales.
Assist with project planning, project management and live operations by observing the work of the Traffic Officer Service.
Support tunnel maintenance and understand technical and environmental requirements associated with the network.
Develop civil engineering skills including design, AutoCAD, quantity inspection and contract procurement.
To support administrative and operational tasks that ensure that the network is managed effectively and in accordance with Welsh Government standards.
Follow the Council's policies on health and safety, equality, data protection and carbon reduction.
