Purpose of the Post
Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
The post holder will also be responsible for undertaking the statutory duties of the Council in terms of enforcing housing standards in the private housing sector.
 
Main Duties
Conduct visits of empty properties and provide reports and work lists for owners and the grants unit.
Conduct visits of empty properties when complaints are received and take enforcement steps where needed which includes serving legal notices and following legal processes and proceedings that include prosecution and attending the Court.
Conduct visits, provide reports and conduct enforcement work on the owners of single occupancy properties as well as HMOs. This will include serving legal notices and following legal processes and proceedings that include prosecution and attending the Court.
Conduct visits on behalf of Health Officers of properties that are suffering statutory nuisance. This work will be under the supervision of the Environmental Health Officers. This will include serving legal notices and following legal processes and proceedings that include prosecution and attending the Court.
Conduct house visits in relation to migrants’ applications and the re-homing of refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan/Syria scheme and provide reports for the owners/applicants and letters for the Home Office.
Take on the responsibilities delegated by the Environmental Health Officers where needed across Gwynedd.
A duty to work outside of statutory working hours where needed e.g. preparing and serving statutory notices on the same day or late in the afternoon.
Responsibility for self-development.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.              
 
Special Circumstances
The post-holder may be required to attend meetings, sub-committees and working groups, some outside normal working hours.
The successful applicant is expected to work unsociable hours as required.
He/she is expected to work without supervision and work independently as required.
•            The post-holder will need to hold a driving licence, and own a car that is available for work.
