JOB PURPOSE Support the Council's site managers to solve buildings’ problems by carrying out electrical repair and maintenance works.

MAIN DUTIES AND KEY TASKS 
 1. Implement a system for repairing electrical systems that have broken or need maintenance in the Council’s buildings.
2. Accept calls and time plans for work from repairs and maintenance customer officers.
3. Ensure that we do what is important to the customer, concentrating on tasks which give value.
4. Implement arrangements for collecting evidence for demand and on the way we deal with it by collecting evidence from buildings’ representatives, contractors and others who could contribute to the task.
5. Enquiring diligently and comprehensively to fully understand the problems and circumstances of completing the task.
6. Deal with applications for usual work derived from periodic service reports.
7. Advise workers on site on what to do when problems arise with buildings.
8. Interpret information and decide on the best course of action.
9. Follow the Council’s guidelines for commissioning and managing contractors. 
10. Use support which adds value if you do not have the skills and information to answer the enquiry yourself.
11. Record correct, clear and current information on the Council’s system.
12. Collect and report feedback from contractors and customers.
13. Act upon evidence to improve and develop the system and change the nature of the demand.
14. Recognise obstacles to providing an effective and cost effective service and support the system Leader to remove the obstacles.
15. Ensure that quality is a core part of every step of the work.
16. Take decisions based on specialist advice on the work.
17. Operate in a safe manner and conform to health and safety regulations, the Council's policies and risk management plans.

19. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety in the Workplace Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.

21. Undertake any other duties considered appropriate and reasonable that correspond to the job’s salary and responsibility level.
22. Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is dealt with in accordance with Data Protection statute. 
 
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES (e.g. the need to work anti social hours, special working arrangements etc) 
 The post holder may be required to work occasional unsocial hours, eg during specific operations on weekends, bank holidays and may be required to work additional hours or changing work patterns in order to ensure that sufficient resources are available to satisfy the demands of the job.
