Purpose of the Post.

• The main purpose of the role is to provide a safe and secure environment outside normal working hours at the supported accommodation properties within the Council’s ownership (e.g. Hostels).

Main Duties
• To supervise the entry and exiting of the buildings, for the purpose of security and safety and to be the first point of contact for advice and security for clients during the night.
• Manage the buildings overnight, ensuring clients are signed in or out as required and enquires are handled professionally, referring to support staff as necessary.signing in all visitors to the hostel and ; signing out visitors.-
• Responding to an emergency or evacuation situation and providing support to others by taking appropriate immediate action in contacting emergency services and to accordingly take further action if required within authorisation limits
• In the event of a safety or security incident which need to be escalated, request assistance from the on call duty officer or from the emergency services as appropriate (following guidelines provided)
• Report incidents and manage anti-social behaviour that affects the buildings or presents a risk to communal safety and accurately record messages, conduct follow up telephone calls, update log books and handover reports etc where appropriate.
• Report to the Day time warden hostel in case of any indiscipline or misbehaviour of the residents.
• Regular patrolling of the site/ground on the site based
• Securing all buildings at the end of each shift, ensuring all windows are closed and lights are turned off.
• Monitoring the CCTV of 3 other locations to maintain a constant oversight of the security, ensuring this is approached professionally, effectively and sensitively in compliance with the councils Data Protection Policy;
• To identify building and security defects and report these appropriately
• Record maintenance or health and safety issues using appropriate paperwork and/or electronic means as in procedural guidelines
• Ensure safety and security of all boarders at all times and maintenance of discipline in and around the Hostels.
• Providing night time (weekday and weekend) security cover on a rota basis, shift pattern 3 days on 6 days off.
• Attending training as required by management to provide the most effective and appropriate Service.
• Undertaking any other duties deemed necessary to fulfil the requirements of the Service.
• Complying with policies and procedures and reporting any concerns, including those relating to Safeguarding and Child Protection,
• Responsibility for self-development.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
• Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
• Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
• Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
• Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
• Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
