Purpose of the Post
Assist the Health and Safety Team to empower staff to integrate their health and safety responsibilities into their day-to-day duties by providing competent advice and carrying out audit-ag audition work.
Assist the Health and Safety Team to ensure that offices and work sites managed by the team are healthy, safe and sustainable for all to use.
Responsibility for functions . e.g. staff, budgets, equipment

Main Duties
The successful individual will be part of an experienced and dynamic team and collaborate with officers with experience in various disciplines such as civil engineers, ecologists and project managers. This role will provide resilience to site management within the Agency, an area where requirements have increased significantly in recent years following site numbers increasing and due to Welsh Government requirements to reach net zero by 2030.
As a Professional Trainee in the field, you will gain diverse experiences within the Service, including:
Provide expert advice to Agent staff on topics such as: CDM compliance, Asbestos, Working on a trunk network, Waste management o Pollution Prevention
Site visits to work sites on the trunk road network
Collaborate with officers experienced in a variety of disciplines such as civil engineers, ecologists and project managers
Develop a health and safety training programme
Liaise with key stakeholders (Others) including, among others, Emergency Services, Welsh Government officials, local authority corporate health and safety officers, Partner Authority officers, private and public sector service providers (including contractors and consultants), UK Highways Ltd., Transport for Wales Technology Consultor, All Wales Maintenance Contractor and ACDC
Understand and undertake site management duties
Managing Trunk Health and Safety systems
Provide expert advice to Agent staff on topics such as: CDM Compliance, Asbestos, Working on trunk network, Waste management, Pollution prevention
Review workstation self-assessments and conduct full workstation assessments
Conducting monthly site inspections
Complete weekly statutory tasks e.g. fire alarm tests, flushing water outlets in offices and depots
Monthly statutory tasks e.g. emergency lighting testing, temperature monitoring of water outlets in offices and depots
Taking on the role of fire marshal and first aider in the office
Manage compliance with recurring facility and service program audits
Prepare reports as needed for the Health, Safety and Environment Manager.
Ensure that the Agent has a firm regime in place to properly manage Building Regulations (Design and Management) for relevant projects and works.
Continuously assess the status of Health, Safety and Environment management in the Agent, identifying areas to improve and develop policies and systems where appropriate.
Basic requirements to complete as part of the job:
IWFM Certificate in Facilities Services (Level 2)
DSE Assessor Course
Fire Marshal training
3 day First Aid Training
