Purpose of the Post
To coordinate Climate Change matters for the North & Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency, and on behalf of the Welsh Government (WG), in order to ensure that such matters are given due consideration in all aspects of the Agency’s work

Main Duties
The successful individual will work with a number of NMWTRA Teams and also other partnership organisations (e.g. Welsh Government, Partner Authorities and SWTRA) on various aspects of carbon emissions reporting. You will be part of an experienced and dynamic team and collaborate with officers who have experience in various disciplines such as civil engineers, ecologists, and project managers.

Assist the Climate Change and Environmental Manager with the development and implementation of the Agencies Climate Change strategy and Activity / Implementation plan
Gain experience of carbon reduction methods within an infrastructure Environment.
To liaise with Partner Authorities with regard to Climate Change issues with the aim of harmonising arrangements throughout the Agency and across the whole range of operations and activities.
Gain experience of environmental management and mitigation.
Site visits to work sites across the trunk road network
To assist the Route Management, Technology, Delivery Teams and others in the development of appropriate processes and work programmes, with the aim of ensuring that Climate Change matters are fully taken into account.
Collaborate with officers with experience in various disciplines such as civil engineers, ecologists and project managers.
Support the Development of a carbon literacy training program
Understand and carry out soft property audits and surveys (e.g. Habitat and Species surveys)
Manage and use trunk management systems on the soft estate (ELM, Ezytreev, TRECS).
Develop knowledge and skills relating to a range of protected species and a variety of habitats.
Develop sound knowledge of a range of environmental, climate and highways legislation, policies and guidelines.
Gain experience of helping to develop and manage projects
Experience of valuing the soft estate
Conduct site inspections and audits (of soft estate work and in relation to carbon emission targets)
Produce and present reports and guidance documents
Basic requirements to be completed as part of the job:
- Get a CSCS card.
- 3 day First Aid Training

Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused

Special Circumstances . e.g. the need to work unsociable hours, special working arrangements etc.
Willingness to work occasional hours which are outside normal working hours (08:00 to 18:00hrs) as required
To assist the Climate Change and Environment Manager in dealing with emergencies if required
Visit construction sites.
Attend meetings in other parts of the UK (e.g. Conwy, Cardiff)
