Responsibility for functions

Main duties
Health Promotion
•Organise and implement health promotion campaigns within the Council.
•Arrange and implement a timetable for visiting the Council’s workplaces in order to conduct tests/health campaigns.
•Conduct tests, e.g., blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and general health and well-being checks.
•Provide advice on the well-being and health of individuals and refer appropriate matters to the attention of the Occupational Health Advisor.
•Secure sufficient resources to implement this plan.
•Keep records and report on the success of the plan on a regular basis.
•Administer and arrange flu jabs for the Council's eligible staff under the supervision of the Occupational Health Advisor.
Health Surveillance
•Organise and implement a health surveillance programme.
•Undertake specific health surveillance tests e.g., hearing, respiratory, skin.
•Keep appropriate records in the context of health surveillance tests.
Health Questionnaires
•Assess pre-employment health declarations/questionnaires to come to a conclusion regarding the health of staff, with onward referral to the Occupational Health Advisor where required.
Triage General Health Matters
•Advise managers and staff on occupational health issues under the direction of the Occupational Health Advisor.
•Undertake specific assessments under the direction of the Occupational Health Advisor, with onward referral when appropriate.
General
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary and responsibility level of the post.
•Responsible for reporting any concern or doubt that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
