- A suitable Early Years recognised qualification at Level 2 or higher as well as relevant experience such as:-
- CACHE Certificate in Early Years Care and Education (Welsh medium)
- NVQ Level 2 in Early Years Care and Education / Children’s Care, Learning and Development
- Level 2 Certificate in Children’s Care, Learning and Development
- Any other relevant qualification or
- Willingness to work towards level 2 or is in process of gaining the above qualification

- Understanding of the types of factors that have an impact on the lives of children and their families
- Knowledge and understanding of how children learn and develop
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Foundation Phase, Flying Start, Play and the Curriculum for Wales
- Knowledge and understanding of the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018
- Thorough knowledge of good practice when caring for children up to 11 years old
- Knowledge of relevant legislation in day care provision for school aged children.
- Can communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations
- Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities
- Understanding of play and child development and the ability to satisfy the needs of individual children by displaying a wide range of practical play-work skills

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
Listening and Speaking – Intermediate
Able to maintain a fluent conversation on a number of various day-to-day subjects and discuss cases involving the field of work. Able to follow a discussion in Welsh, in Clear Welsh, on familiar matters relating to the post. Able to contribute to the conversation and answer questions.
Reading and Understanding – Intermediate
Ability to understand standard written Welsh and English; both formal and informal. Able to gather information from various sources such as letters, reports and articles in Welsh and English in order to fulfil the post.
Writing – Intermediate
Able to write letters for a specific purpose, e-mails and short reports in Welsh and English, using vocabulary and simple phrases that are familiar to the field of work. (They will need to be checked before being sent out).
