About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Communications Officer to join the WLGA’s communications team.

You will have a good instinct for news and a flair for storytelling. Working closely with the Communications and Public Affairs Manager, you will support senior officers and the WLGA political leadership to help promote the interests of Welsh local government.

As a key member of the communications team, you will play a pivotal role in contributing ideas to reshape and develop WLGA’s approach to business. You will be able to demonstrate experience of managing and developing good relations with key contacts across national and UK press and media, and of writing compelling copy to a high standard across various channels. You will be adept at managing and developing social media channels and will have a keen eye for creating impactful and engaging content.

You will have experience of working in press or public relations, preferably in a public service or political environment, and working to tight deadlines. We will expect you to be proactive and to be equally as comfortable working independently or as part of a team. You will liaise closely and regularly with leaders and senior elected members within the WLGA, providing advice and guidance with confidence and developing trusted relationships across the political spectrum.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile political organisation at the heart of Welsh governance. If you are an innovative, creative communicator, we would like to hear from you.
