Purpose of the Post.
• Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do
• Actively contribute to communicating the Department’s housing schemes
• Develop and execute a Communication Plan for the Housing Action Plan
• Collaborate with the Senior Executive Officer, project officers and the Council’s corporate communication service to ensure that matters relating to housing plans are proactively shared with Elected Members and with the public as and when needed
• Operate as the point of contact for the Department for matters relating to the communication of housing plans

Main Duties
Communicating and promoting schemes
• Share, promote and raise awareness of the Department’s housing opportunities
• Take an active part in the Housing Action Plan’s communication sub-group and provide senior officers with specialist support on communication aspects and regarding the best and most effective ways of communicating messages with the public and elected members.
• Identify and take advantage of every opportunity to be proactive in promoting the Housing Action Plan and other housing-related schemes by conducting research and preparatory work (such as meeting project managers and other key shareholders) in order to ensure that projects and schemes are promoted effectively
• Responsibility for developing and executing a Communication Plan for the Housing Action Plan
• Develop a brand for the Housing Action Plan and ensure that it is visible in all contexts relating to the Housing Action Plan
• Create and develop materials that promote schemes such as videos, social media posts, newsletters etc.
• Think of new ways for communicating or develop current methods, e.g. newsletters, website, social media etc.
• Assist the Senior Executive Officer in responding to press and media enquiries, and prepare press releases in order to promote developments and opportunities that are associated with our schemes
• Build and maintain effective relationships with our housing partners and other organisations e.g. Grŵp Cynefin, Adra, North Wales Housing
• Conduct field-work such as interviewing/filming/creating communication material with the Cabinet Member, officers etc.
• Visit service users in order to produce case studies on the success of our schemes
• Attend communication and marketing evens e.g. public consultations
• Operate as an internal point-of-contact for the Housing Action Plan’s communication matters, taking advantage of opportunities to empower and encourage members of the Department to take ownership of specific communication tasks and work flows
• Undertake the marketing, promotion and material work for any plans/schemes that will come online in the future, producing any material that is needed
Communicating with Elected Members
• Regularly update the Department’s web-page on the Members’ Intranet, including statistics and details of the Housing Action Plan’s projects
• Produce specific updates as an when needed to Members in order to be sent in the name of the Cabinet Member
• Write news articles to share important messages with Members and share them using appropriate media e.g. Members’ Intranet
General
• Work closely with the Internal Communication Service to coordinate press releases, announcements and any other communication work
• Keep organised and detailed records of press releases, media attention and any other matter that could be helpful to the process of communicating and marketing the Department
• Monitor and report on the success of communications and recommend improvements if needed
• Monitor and respond to any messages that are received due to communications/promotions, or send the enquiry to the relevant officer(s) to respond
• Responsibility for self-development.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
• Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
• Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
• Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
• Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
• Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special Circumstances . e.g. the need to work unsociable hours, special working arrangements etc.
• The post holder may be required to attend events outside normal work hours
