Purpose of the post
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•Responsible for looking after the audience including selling tickets, selling products, providing information, escorting and guiding audiences and the safety of audiences whilst in the building.
Responsibility for functions
•Receive and handle cash through the sale of tickets and products.
Main duties
•Putting the people of Gwynedd at the centre of everything the service does, working in accordance with the strategies and policies adopted by Gwynedd Council.
•Be the face of the Theatre/Cinema and display good customer service skills including being welcoming and genial towards all users.
•Deal with information enquiries from customers who visit the site including selling tickets and bar coffee/shop products including handling cash transactions and taking payments on-line and over the phone.
•Ensure that any companies, contractors or visitors to the site receive visitor lanyards and that they sign in and out of the building.
•Report daily on the sale of concessions and the audience numbers for the theatre and cinema to external companies such as Rentrack.
•Keep a record of sales and audiences daily and input them into internal spreadsheets.
•Undertake the work of the reception on a rota basis, including serving responsibilities to do with the coffee bar, drinks bar, selling tickets and answering general enquiries from the public including some that are to do with the element of different services within the building, in accordance with the Service Level Agreement between the Cinema/Theatre and the Library Service. Ensure and keep to the food hygiene standards and rules and undertake any specific training in this field. Serve hot drinks, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks to customers.
•Ensure order and safety during film showings, shows and performances, including escorting and guiding customers to the auditorium and balcony, receive tickets and assist with access and exiting matters.
•To be aware of fire rules and be able to assist in evacuating the building safely in an emergency.
•Assist to keep the building clean and safe, including additional cleaning of public and private areas of Neuadd Dwyfor, for example emptying bins, cleaning toilets if needed, cleaning the foyer, etc.
•Report to a senior member of Neuadd Dwyfor's team and undertake any occasional duties in accordance with the requirements or responsibilities of the job.
•Comply with Gwynedd Council’s Policy and Guidelines for Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults and that every person employed should be aware of their responsibilities concerning safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special circumstances
•The work hours are 7.5 hours a week on a rota basis and the post-holder will be expected to occasionally work additional hours on some evenings and weekends.
•Some of the work hours may fall on Saturdays or Sundays and in the evening and in accordance with the requirements of the programme of events. The right to change the pattern of working hours will be retained in accordance with the Service requirements. The post-holder will be expected to qualify to the appropriate level in the context of information technology use. Training will be provided as required.
•The main work base will be Neuadd Dwyfor.
