JOB PURPOSE
Open and close Aber Swing Bridge to both pedestrians and river traffic.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESOURCES
(e.g. staff, finance, equipment)
Responsibility for equipment, machinery or goods relevant to the duties noted.
Carry out routine maintenance checks of the Bridge and surrounding area in the mornings.
MAIN DUTIES AND TASKS
• Open and close Aber Swing Bridge to both pedestrians and river traffic in a safe manner.
• Ensure that the workplace is kept clean and tidy.
• Litter picking, painting and other maintenance work.
• Responsibility to protect the safety of self, co-workers and members of the public.
• Responsibility for self-development.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
• Operate within the Council’s policies and procedures in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
• Responsibility for information management in accordance with the Council’s information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is handled in compliance with Data Protection legislation.
• The above list of duties is only an outline. The post holder will be expected to undertake any other duties relevant to the nature and scale of the post, in accordance with reasonable requests from the Line Manager.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES (e.g. the need to work unsociable hours, special working arrangements, etc.)
The Bridge is open 364 days a year from 7.00 am until 11.00 pm.
The bridge is closed on Christmas Day.
There will be a need to work shifts.
