Main Duties
In a rapidly developing field, the need to develop IT field specialists is essential to ensure that we respond to the needs of the people of Gwynedd in innovative ways.
 
 The Digital Degree (Software Engineering) apprenticeship provides apprentices with the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to become professionally qualified software engineering workers.
 
 The apprenticeship provides a good foundation for an individual to learn about the field. In addition, the program provides the tools that enable our apprentices to be at the forefront of a rapidly changing field.

 We welcome applicants of every age and from diverse backgrounds, with a range of experiences, achievements and in some cases, candidates who have already completed qualifications.
 
Here’s an overview of the main duties of the post:
 
Support the team in providing technical support to others
Give input to new ideas and identify efficiency savings by identifying how the Service can create improvements, improve customer care or create new opportunities
Play a role in decision-making to ensure that elements of projects are completed on time, within the budget and to the expected standards
Manage workload to meet targets
Give input into the decision making process in selecting and selecting new suppliers and products
Give input into the development of new policies and procedure
Give input into the business planning process
Contribute towards ensuring that performance targets and improvement measures are met, or exceeded
Use effective communication skills to discuss IT issues with users of all levels across the Council
Develop clear and understandable specifications for projects
Represent the Service at meetings across the Council and externally from time to time
Use problem solving skills to ensure innovative solutions are used

Responsibility for self-development.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused
 
Special Circumstances  
Over the course of the apprenticeship, one working day and one evening a week will be required at one of the Grŵp Llandrillo Menai Colleges and then at Bangor University during the last academic year.
