Job Description
Purpose of Post.
• Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the centre of everything we do
• Identify curriculum and school administration requirements as part of a digital enablement team and to support schools when these digital provisions are introduced
• Research new software packages
• Adhere o the standards and good practices set out in the Gwynedd Schools Digital Strategy while supporting and delivering digital solutions to schools
• May provide support for supporting school information management systems, such as SIMS
• Provide support for the administration of the HWB teaching platform
• Provide support and administration for SharepointResponsibility for Resources. . e.g. staff, finance, equipment
Staff:
• May be a part of an interview panel
Finance:
• Awareness of the unit's budgetary structures and the schools funding mechanism
• Knowledge of contractual law, with input into several software agreements and digital services
• Review and administer a wide range of agreements with 3rd party companies
• Provide digital services to schools in the most cost-effective way
• Input to large-scale digital ventures which have far-reaching effect for schools, the Authority and the public, offering direction and support to other members of the team
• May be responsible for providing input to business cases and contribute to the procurement process
Data/ Equipment / Software:
• Follow procedures, processes and standards while delivering digital provision to satisfy the vision of the Gwynedd Schools Digital Strategy
• Review software packages with reference to specific standards in establishing new provision
• May represent the Authority at regional and national meetings where input is required in relation to digital items in the Education sector
• Collaboration with external companies to rectify problems
• Lead by example by adhering to cyber security standards in all aspects of the job.Main Duties. .
Making decisions, arranging and being innovative:
• Research new developments in the field of digital provisions for schools
• Assist the Gwynedd Schools Digital Services Manager to keep the Gwynedd Schools Digital Strategy current
• Advise the Gwynedd Schools Digital Services Manager about digital solutions and new suppliers in the education field
• Keep the service's internal documentation and information systems up to date and advise on improvements where appropriate
• Guarantee that tasks and projects are delivered on time and communicate clearly if that is not possible
• Identify areas of innovation and efficiency where the introduction of digital solutions may create improvements
• Have the ability to manage a number of tasks at the same time
• Use the "Agile" methodology, including the actions Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live and Retirement for new projects and manage them by following a recognised project management methodology
• May contribute to performance measurement procedures by preparing data and managerial statistics for internal submission in the IT Service, or for wider reports.
Communication:
• Contribute to business cases to compete for national grants and for the purposes of the Council's internal fiscal arrangements
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills to communicate with users throughout the schools and more widely in the Authority including up to the level of Chief Executive, Headteachers and Elected Members
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Welsh and English
• May represent the schools and the Authority in digital matters externally and at meetings across the Council, including, but not limited to: HWB Technical Authority, sub-groups involved in the HWB programme, secondary and primary headteachers forums
• May be preparing, commissioning or contributing to training for schools
• Providing advice and guidance to users within and outside the service.
Other:
• Being responsible for identifying risks and ensure that responsibility is taken for them, or escalate them for further attention
• May be negotiating with providers for the supply of digital products and services for Gwynedd schools
• Lead by example by operating within the Council's Cyber Security policies and elevate any cyber incident or weakness through the IT Service's reporting channels immediately
General:
• Responsible for self-development.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.

• Be responsible for reporting any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.Special Circumstances. . e.g. the need to work unsociable hours, special working arrangements, etc.
• As the Council’s computer function operates on a 24 hour basis, 7 days a week, there will be an occasional need to work during unsociable hours and at weekends with pay in accordance with the Council’s Terms and Conditions of Employment. Emergency calls will be subject to a specific discussion.
