LETTER: John Jones and John Williams, Cae Llechfaen, nr. Caernarfon to Lord Newborough, informing his Lordship that they were in occupation of 2 fields, part of Caestanley, nr. Bontnewydd, and the fields had been in the occupation of their families for 107 years and the rent regularly paid. When they had paid their rent to his Lordship’s agent, Mr. Griffith Jones, that day, they had been told that they were likely to lose the two fields but were given no reason for it. The previous autumn two men had asked them what they would take for giving up the land and they had replied that they were unwilling to give it up. They had told them that they would have to give the land up within 12 months. They had been informed that these men wanted the land to build upon. They could raise more money if his Lordship required it. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 3112]
