LETTER: William Elias, The Abbey to Lord [Newborough]. He comments on his statements re. the rent allowance of 10% and mentions the stone quarried for building at Trogog and the tenant’s efforts to drain the land there. The man killed at Rogers’ was the mason at Penrhyn Castle who executed the Corinthian caps of the pillars round St. George’s Hall Gaol. The [Abbey] Estate is under water and the flood water entered the cellars via the main drain to the house. Enclosed: LETTER: (4 January 1851): William Rogers, Beaumaris [Biwmares] to William Elias, Abbey, informing him of the death of John Bartley, the foreman of the masons at Glyn Garth, who was blown off some scaffolding. He discusses arrangements re. the support of his wife and family.
