LETTER: E. Chiappini, Cape Town to Lord Newborough. He has been trying unsuccessfully to get redress for Capt. Moody’s disgraceful treatment of his daughter. He had hoped that a friend of his, Lafan, would help in this but he has had no reply to his letters. He asks Lord Newborough to help him and to contact Moody’s commanding Officer, the Marquis of Anglesey. He hopes De Winton will assist him too. He gives his impressions of Natal. It promises to be a good country for cotton. It wants nothing but good government. There is a plentiful supply of native labour and a good climate. Emigration to Natal is continuing.
