LETTER: Llewellyn Turner, Parkia, to Lord Newborough. He contests Lord Newborough’s recent handling of a case involving Elizabeth Smith, when costs were disallowed and Lord Newborough declared it was a disgrace to bring such a case into Court. The costs are of no account but his honour is at stake, also a similar case has come up. He cites a recent London Judge’s decision that the law should protect prostitutes or moral wrongdoers as well as others. In his case Lord Newborough has prevented a daring thief from being brought to trial. It is common practice for this woman to avoid prosecution by alleging that her victims were either drunk or in the company of prostitutes. He feels that the case is far from being a trivial one.
