LETTER: Col. D. Pennant, to Lord Newborough. Pennant writes to his Lordship concerning contribution to County matters, especially roadways, by the area’s landed proprietors. He has always done his best to contribute and that he may have failed concerning roadways because at the time they asked for money he held no land in the County, and giving money to roadways was considered a very bad investment at the time. He expresses his dislike of the dealings of a certain Lloyd Roberts and makes short reference to the building of the [Britannia]Bridge. Pennant next writes about the Porthdinllaen Railway, stating that the Bill concerning it is ready, and that he is quite opposed to becoming a director when the company is formed. Pennant asks his Lordship to inform him as soon as possible whether or not he intends becoming a director of the railway line.
