LETTER: David Williams, at London to Lord Newborough. Williams is impressed at the progress of the North Wales Railway, stating that 33,000 in excess of the required shares have been applied for. He reports that the plans for the new railway have been applied for. He reports that the plans have also been favoured by the Board of Trade and passed through Parliament. Williams makes a reference to the Holyhead Railway Company, stating that he is now certain that the Porthdinllaen Company will outdo its rival. Williams reports that his Lordship’s name has appeared on the Provisional Committee of the Railway company and he is sure that the company will comply with his Lordship’s wishes. Enclosed: COPY letter sent by the Chester and Holyhead Railway Co., to the North Wales Railway Co., explaining that they are no longer opposed to a rival line at Porthdinllaen.
