LETTER: David Williams to Lord Newborough, enclosing a letter concerning the Porthdinllaen Railway and asking if his Lordship’s views on the undertaking have in any way been modified. Williams asks his Lordship for details concerning Pugh Owen, who is an applicant for the independent school at Pwllheli. He invites his Lordship for dinner and a bed when his Lordship visits the New Church at Ffestiniog. Endorsed: DRAFT of letter in response to above: His Lordship expresses his general dislike of the undertaking of building the railway and is particularly concerned that no deviation occurs from the mapped route. His Lordship makes it known that he hopes the new Railway Company will guarantee the safeguarding of his interests. He declines Williams’ offer of staying at Broneryri, stating that he hopes to visit Liverpool instead of Ffestiniog. His Lordship promises to make further enquiries about Pugh Owen.
