LETTER: Farrars and Co., Lincoln’s Inn Fields, [London], to George Bettiss, Caernarfon, restating that if he could buy Aberkin with the money, they thought that the Court of Chancery would sanction it. They had not had any communication with Mr. Wynne on the subject. They thought that the forfeiture of Plas Newydd was doubtful but Lord Newborough would not like to adopt so harsh a manner as depriving the present tenant’s family of the benefit of the lease because of the legal slip. They felt it to be advisable to adopt his argument and if they grumbled they could be told that Lord Newborough could deprive them of the lease because of his having given a portion of his interest to Mr. Williams, which he had no power to do. Mr. Rowlands had better pay the annuity out of the Glynllifon rents but the annual payment of the lease could not be done until Lord Newborough was of age because no one could give security. [N.L.W.
