LETTER: Farrars and Co., Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, to Mr. George Bettiss, Caernarfon, informing him that the trustees had not enough money to treat for the sale of certain estates near Caernarfon unless they had the approbation of the Court of Chancery. This approbation was not to be expected under a sale by auction. Therefore Mr. Bettiss must not enter into any treaty or contract with the exception of the estate lying on the bank of Llanberis Lake if it would be obtained for about £700. Nothing would be paid as a deposit. They approved of the answer he had given to Mr. Jones’ claim for land tax and timber and they ask him for details of the property purchased from Mr. Jones. They ask that Mr. Jones send the title deeds to his agent in London so that they could examine them. They also ask for extracts of four recoveries which had been suffered in 1707, 1738, 1774 and 1800 but not included in the abstract. When the deeds had been consulted they would immediately consult counsel on the title and, if approved, would complete the purchase, paying off the £2000 as part of the purchase money. They hoped that Bwlan Farm purchase was completed and that they would receive the abstract of the title to the six acre lot purchased from Prichard. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 2960]
