Pori'r archifau

XD2/15103

LETTER: W Richards, Chester, to John Pownall, 9 Staple Inn, London, informing him that he had had a good deal of trouble in passing Lord Newborough’s fine as the compounder had not forgotten Mr. Price. They had first insisted upon a rental verified upon oath and afterwards an accommodation to him for £1800 p.a., being £150 more than the rental of 1794. Bateman did not think himself warranted to comply without consulting him (WR). He had agreed to pay this composition upon an assurance that if the rental was produced properly verified and appeared less than £1800, the overpayment should be returned. This was agreed to. Fines paid five shillings in the pound upon one third of the value whereas recoveries did not pay quite one shilling upon the rental. If the rental should be less than £1800, no time should be lost in sending a copy of it to him. He annexes an account of his charges and asks for payment. Attached: BILL (1806) as above. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 4886pt.]
