LETTER: Robert Carreg, Caernarfon to [?Sir John Wynn]. He has attended to the arrears, rent and taxes on Coedmaddock as instructed. Few Arvon [Arfon] tenants are in arrears but William Elias in Anglesey owes £10, unless his £5 p.a. salary is to be back-dated for two years. He has at times in the past been allowed £10, and £5 is not too much, as he is always ready to serve him and will be pleased with a fixed sum rather than having to keep an account. William Jones of Dwygyfylchi reports that they are surveying the Penrhyn Estate, including part of the property in dispute. They have set up new landmarks without giving any notice. The tenants of Mr. Pennant have been presented at the Court for moving these; some are tenants of the late Mr. Hoar. The Talybraich tenants are now threatening to impound the cattle of the Cowlyd tenants, and things could end up with a lawsuit. Griffith Roberts and William Hughes, timbermerchant, have felled twenty trees at Denbigh; Mr. Hughes’ men cut them down and took them at cost to his yard at Ridland [Rhuddlan, co. Flint], until a ship is available to bring them over. F Salisbury has taken Pontastrad, [Denbigh]. He discusses the advances for the takings of the Denbigh properties.
