LETTER: D.Jones to Lord [Newborough] informing his Lordship that he could not agree with the workmen. His Lordship had wished the slates to be settled per thousand raised. Thonas Griffiths and Evan Griffiths, both natives of old Cilgwyn, were prepared to work at prices listed in the letter. There were 5 men at work at a wage per day. The business would be contracted out at the rate offered by Thomas Griffiths and Evan Griffiths if his Lordship agreed. The price was so high because there was much rubbish on the slates but the quarry would be put in better order.
