LETTER: Edward Bates to [Henry Rowlands] Bishop of Bangor. He and Mr. Henry Rowlands, goldsmith went to see Mr. Johnes at Lincolns Inn, and the writer gave him his deed for the houses called the alms houses in pa. St. George, Southwark, desiring him to make over a conveyance to the Dean and Chapter of Bangor Cathedral. But Mr. Johnes ’made a speach concerning mortmayne’ Mr. Dean did not come to London during Trinity Term as he had promised, and Mr. Johnes left soon after the end of term. The writer hopes that the business will be completed upon his return.
