LETTER: L.B. Shroider, 48 Commercial Sale Rooms, London, to Lord Newborough informing his Lordship that he had received a letter from Mr. Dyke expressing regret at the painful position in which the Shroiders and their trustees had been placed by the proceedings of Mr. Stephens and asking for a quietus from any further trouble stating that he did not expect to get any of the money back. He would try his utmost to come to terms with Mr. Sharman although Mr. Sharman was the main cause of the problems. Endorsed: NOTE (28 Aug. 1848) by Lord Newborough of his reply to the above letter asking that any proposal that Mr. Shroider might have about the liquidation of expenses incurred by the late trustees in consequence of their compliance with Mr. Shroider’s request for a loan of part of the trust fund could be made to the trustee’s solicitor, Mr. Slater as Lord Newborough was only one of the parties involved.
