LETTER: Thomas Dyke, Lennox Place, Brighton, to Lord Newborough acknowledging receipt of his Lordship’s letter and informing him that he had met his Lordship’s agent, Griffith Jones at Mr. Roberts’ chambers. Mr. Shearman and Mr. Slater were also there and after a long discussion re the amount of costs chargeable against the trust fund of £2000 and the charges Mr. Jones might have to make re the bonds to the Caernarfon bank it was arranged that the amount of his and Mr. Shearman’s obligations to the bank should be £625. He had executed a bond which was attested by Mr. Jones. He had been forced to leave and understood that matters could not be finally arranged with Mr. Stevens, solicitor, before the Monday when the final balance could be agreed upon and invested in consols in the names of his Lordship, Mr. Shearman and himself to be then transferred into the names of Mr. Stevens and two other new trustees. Mr. G. Jones would be put in possession of the indemnities, but he feared that they would not gain much advantage from this. Early in the month of April he hoped to redeem his obligation to the Caernarfon Bank with thanks to the ’gentleman of the firm’ for complying with his Lordship’s request on his behalf. [N.L.W.
