LETTER: Josephine [Sternberg], Hohenholm, [Estonia], to her mother-in-law, Lady Newborough Sternberg]. She expresses her infinite joy on receiving her letter, and how happy she is to be called daughter and how she waited with impatience for the moment when she [L.N.S.] would call her by such a name. She expresses her gratitude and undying devotion but charges her not to make her weep anymore. She [L.N.S.] had written in her letter that she wished to leave the world that life was a burden; she then goes on to describe her own unbounded joy since her marriage to her son [Edoaud Ungern Sternberg] who, possessing all the qualities of his mother, cannot help but make happy all those who belong to him. She thanks her for asking to be remembered to her parents and assures her of her perfect devotion. French. [N.L.W. Bodfean 76/3.]
