PROBATE of the Will (dated 23 October 1604) of Edmund [?Meyrick], D.C.L., Archdeacon of Bangor. Bequests include ?rents of lands called ___y glan, Kamddwr, ___bont, and Y kaie ?rydynoc, co. Merioneth [Meirionnydd] [and possibly other parcels of land indecipherable], 6/= thereof to the preachers of the afternoon sermon in Bangor Cathedral on Easter Day, and 8d. to the Curate or sexton for ringing the bell for half an hour, the remainder to be used for six years towards the marriage of his dau. Elizabeth, and for a further six years of his dau. Grace M___’s marriage; lands subject to a feoffment to the use of his son George, are also to pay for his keep in his nonage, and for 12 years for keep of his son Gelye Meyrick; 20/= to reparation of Bangor Cathedral and Litchfield Cathedral; 10/= to poor of pa.[rish] ___benhill; 20/= to poor of pa.[rish] Corwen; ___ to old servant Thomas ? Jones; ___ to Ellin Bache alias Ellin Meyricke, base dau. of his bro. ?William Meyricke for her keep; 10/= to old servant Ellis Williams; 40/= to Nell ___, £4 to Richard Baxter, his ?clerk. Appoints George and Gelye Meyricke as executors, and old mistress Lady ___ of Essex as overseer of children. Additional trustees of will are to be Sir Symon Wes__, Sir John Conwaye, Kt., Rowland Me-ricke, son and heir of Sir Gelye Meyricke, Kt., ___ Meyricke, ___ Evans, ?Peter ?Meyricke and [Tho]mas Snape.
