DEPOSITION of Owen ap Robert pa. Llanwnda, slater, who states that on the 13 June last, he saw one Elizabeth verch Howell, spinster, carry turffs unto one Herbert Robins, who, together with one Richard Robins, was putting together the turffs into heaps, which were then burnt; He also deposeth that the said Elizabeth took gorse from a close known as Dôl evan, in the occupation of Morgan Lewis, the said gorse being sold to Hugh Rowlands and John Evan, by one Howell ap Yny. DEPOSITION of William Williams, pa. Llanwnda, who states that, on the 13 June last, word was brought to him that his turffs upon Rhos Llanfaglan were burnt by Herbert Robins and Richard Robins. He further deposeth that the said Herbert did use a pitefforke to throw turffs on to the fire, and that he demanded of the said Herbert why he was burning the turffs, the said Herbert answering that it was not out of malice to the deponent, but to give example to others that they could not get any more turffs in the same place.
