LETTER Between the Chairman and Magistrates and John Dixon the Gaoler at Caernarfon. An additional statement concerning the increase of the gaoler’s salary. Mention is made that the salaries of persons of similar rank in the Manchester Police Force have risen 25% during John Dixon’s tenure of office. Attention too is drawn to attempts to reduce the expenditure in the gaol to increase the profits from the prisoner’s labour. Finally the point is made that John Dixons’ family as well as the county should benefit from his exertions.
