LETTER: R.B. Pritchard to his sister and family. Margaret has not been well, but is now a little stronger. Acknowledges the "Herald" from which he had learned of the death of Mary Roberts, the eminent "Nicander", poor and kind Emlyn, K. Dudley and Ambrose whose death is a great loss to the Baptists and Congregationalists. Writes about the bad winter when the men could not work, and the hard times they have, therefore, to suffer. He has been receiving 18 dollars a week which is considered a good wage. He has just finished two new machines and there is nothing there to compare with them, especially the sawtable, and the plainer is a good, firm hardy machine for which he gives the measurements and a diagram. He understands from the papers that there is a general election, advises him which party to stick to, so that they can elect their own Magistrates, etc.. Asks them to send him the "Herald" for account of the election.
