LETTER: W.A. Madocks, London to John Williams, Ynys y Towyn, Caernarfon. He longs to hear the particulars of the high tide turning through the sluices and if it is above the domes. He must have this information on the splot. Asks J.W. to set the thatcher to mend the roof of the gate house. The weathercock is by this time at the Lion Inn, Shrewsbury and he has written to them to forward it. He trusts the stones are well shaped and well worked and well chosen to put it in. He agrees with J.W.’s recommendations to put all strength on the centre of the bank and leave the river to cut its own channel before the sluices. Since the carpenters are now at leisure they can hang the gates of the sluice and make the turnpike gate. He is delighted that Griffith Jones is so spirited at the TanyBwlch road. You say nothing of Caeydywyod. Do not defer it my longer. He hopes that Hugh Williams has sown all the seed that Robert Thomas got and all that came from Shrewsbury about Ynys y Cerig Ddu [Cerrig Duon]. All the world will attend their jubilee.
