Pori'r archifau

X/POOLE/5830

LETTER: Sir R.Williams from Stanhope Street, London. Asks Poole to procure him a loan. He comments on the difference in prices between London and the country and asserts that London is far cheaper. Meat prices are high and corn low. ’The Mountain farmers would be rich if they had any judgement in their sale of cattle but they allow themselves to be duped by those rogues, the Drovers.’ Comments on the likelihood of peace. He does not approve of Lord Nelson’s actions. ’This business of Lord Nelson is very foolish for we lose men, and if we succeed in burning their boats the French would replace them in a month.’ And other business.
